iHuntFit Memorial Day Murph Challenge

By Chad Chenoweth, iHuntFit Program Director

This past Memorial Day weekend a large portion of the iHuntFit Field and Leadership Team participated in the popular CrossFit Murph Workout Challenge to pay honor and sacrifice for Navy LT. Michael Murphy.  LT Murphy was a Navy SEAL killed in action in Afghanistan in 2005, and posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.  Within the CrossFit community, “Hero” workouts are popular, and honor military, law-enforcement, and civil-service personnel.  Team iHuntFit has a number of current and former civil-servants and military personnel within its ranks who are eager to continue to show support, aid, and give back to their peers and wounded warriors.  Nearing the weekend there were a few back and forth messages about participation, and we just decided to go ahead and make Murph a team challenge to whomever wanted to participate and sacrifice some of their time and body to complete the workout.  The Murph consists of a 1 mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and another 1 mile run for time, all while wearing a 20lb weighted vest or body armor.  I was instantly pleased to see all of the pictures, videos, and times posted from team members flowing in all weekend.  The show of support and teamwork was outstanding, and a prelude of what is to come with the creation of the iHuntFit Veterans Program.  Starting this fall, Team iHuntFit will partner with current, active, and trusted veterans organizations to assist in events for wounded warriors, veterans with PTSD, and other civil service individuals who are struggling to get back to a normal life after tragic events.  We currently have a large volunteer base around the country that are motivated to help with hunts, donate time, land, strength and energy to get these Veterans whatever they need to get outdoors again, and enjoy the life they once loved.  We are currently looking into a few upcoming hunts, and would love to partner with you if you are hosting an event in your area to film, call, pack, motivate, or just work in some capacity to help these warriors.  Please contact Team iHuntFit’s Regional Team Leader and Veterans Program Director, Chad Chenoweth at (513) 461-1350 with event details and planning requirements.
